Conklin, Paul A.

ALBANY- Paul A. Conklin, 72, died suddenly November 23, 2016 at Albany Medical Center. Born in Albany, he was the son of the late Arthur and Helen (Tice) Conklin. Paul graduated from Albany High School and Hudson Valley Community College. He retired as Chief Boiler Inspector after 43 years of service with NYS Department of Labor.He was a 50 year member of the Albany Elks, BPOE #49 and a member of the National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors representing NY State. Paul was a volunteer with Albany Pop Warner Football and served as statistician and head of fundraising. He was director of St. James CYO and an original board member of the Albany Capitals AAU girls basketball program. Paul's greatest joy in life was traveling and spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years Carla (Foley) Conklin; daughters Colleen Conklin Berrios, Jill Abatto (Mark), Shannan Smith (Rich), and Denise Conklin Bilka (Mike Dunn); sister Patricia Courtemanche (late Paul); grandchildren Joseph Berrios Jr. (Ashlee), Jason, Kyle and Megan Abatto, Jake and Sydney Smith, Ryan Bilka, Ryan and Michael Dunn; great-granddaughter Madelyn Berrios; brother-in-law Edward (Peg) Foley; son-in-law Joe Berrios; good friends Gary Minerley and Steve Olender; also several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother-in-law and sister-in-law Vincent and Ann Foley.

The family wishes to thank the Colonie EMS and the staff at AMC CCU especially Dawn, Annie, Jason, Ginny and Kelly for their loving care and support.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with his family Tuesday, November 29, 2016 from 4-7 pm in the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, Inc., 490 Delaware Ave.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at 10 am in the funeral home. Inurnment will follow in the Mausoleum of St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
