d. March 2, 2020

ALBANY- With sadness we announce the death of Agnes T. Wolfgang. She passed away on Monday, March 2, 2020 at age 89 after living a life full of love, laughter, gossip and coffee.

The 64 years she was married to Gerald “Gerry” J. Wolfgang, Sr. were filled with smiles, hard work and tears, some happy and some bittersweet. They were able to weather these years together because of a strong love they shared with each other and all those around them.

She leaves behind a loving family to mourn and remember her. They will carry on the family tradition of keeping the fun in dysfunctional.

A lifelong Albany resident, she was the daughter of John Davenport and Monica (Fiset) Barry and stepdaughter of Edward Barry. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her favorite brother Jack Davenport.

Agnes graduated from St. Anne’s in Albany’s South End where she made many lifelong friends. As a young woman she worked at the NY Bell Telephone company as an operator who disconnected as many calls as she connected. After raising their family, she and Gerry started a new family enterprise, opening Deli Plus in Selkirk where you could always find great food, great people and even better insults.

She raised eight amazing but ungrateful children: Ginny, John (Jane), Jane (Jeff Levitt), Gerald J. Jr. (Kathy), Joe, Geoff (Anne), Jay P. (Debby) and Jason (Melissa). They begat 22 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren who adored Gram and will miss reminiscing with her about summer bbq’s and Sunday dinners on Rose Court. She will also be missed by her doting nieces and nephews: Bob Wolfgang, Sue (Marty) Furlong, Diane (George) Montesano, Jim (Maryllis) Wolfgang, Karen (Mark) Sullivan, John Davenport III, Brian Davenport and Michelle (Correy) Miller as well as many in-laws, outlaws, friends old and new.

A special thank you to the entire staff at the Teresian House.

Due to the flu and virus, the family strongly requests that if you are sick to please recover at home. Your note of condolence will be most appreciated.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family Sunday March 8, from 2-6 pm in the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, Inc., 490 Delaware Ave. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, March 9 at 10:00 am in the Parish of Mater Christi, 40 Hopewell St. Interment will follow the Mass in Our Lady Help of Christians Cemetery, Glenmont. In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorial donations to Capital City Rescue Mission, 259 S. Pearl St., Albany, NY 12202 or to a favorite charity.
