Wolfgang, Gerald J. “Gerry” Sr.

d. September 27, 2013

ALBANY- Gerald J. “Gerry” Wolfgang, Sr., our beloved “old man” passed away on Friday, September 27, 2013 at age 85; leaving behind his loving wife of 64 years, Agnes T. (Davenport) Wolfgang. A lifelong Albany resident he was the son of the late Kenneth and Katherine (Magilton) Wolfgang. He proudly served in the United States Navy after graduating in 1946 from Milne School in Albany.

After working for many years in the paper industry, he opened our family deli, Deli Plus in Selkirk which he ran with his sons for 26 years.

Growing old is inevitable, growing up is optional. Gerry chose to never grow up and we are grateful for the many years of surprises and love he showered on all who knew him.

He was predeceased by his parents and brothers, Roy, Paul and Kenneth. He leaves behind many heavy hearts; his children, Ginny, John (Jane), Jane, Gerald J. Jr. (Kathy), Joe (Claudia), Geoff (Anne), Jay P. (Debby) and Jason (Melissa); 22 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and many special nephews, nieces, in-laws, out-laws and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at 9:30 a.m. in The Parish of Mater Christi, 40 Hopewell St., Albany. Relatives and friends are invited and may also call at the Church Monday, September 30, 2013 from 4 to 8 p.m. Interment will be in Our Lady Help of Christians Cemetery, Glenmont.
