ALBANY
- Geoffrey Wolfgang passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Friday, May 7, 2021, after a heroic 9 year battle that he faced with continuous optimism.
Born and raised in Albany, Geoff was the son of the late Gerald and Agnes Wolfgang. He graduated from CBA with a love of playing basketball, which continued through his JCA years and beyond. His friendships from his basketball years are ones that he cherished for the remainder of his life. Along with his family, Geoff owned and operated Deli Plus in Selkirk for many years. Geoff found joy in life’s simple pleasures like birdwatching, winemaking, and sharing a good joke with family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Anne Gould Wolfgang; and his beloved children Shawn, Mark, Peter, and Abigail; his cherished siblings Ginny, John (Jane), Jane (Jeff), Gerald J. Jr. (Kathy), Joe, Jay P. (Debby), and Jason (Melissa). He was a cherished son-in-law to his “MIL”, and a much loved brother-in-law to the Gould family, including the self-appointed out-laws. Geoff is also survived by many cousins, especially Bob Wolfgang. His love for his family was unmatched, extending all the way to his many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with his family on Tuesday, May 11 at the Parish of Mater Christi, 40 Hopewell St. from 9:30 to 11:30 am. His funeral Mass will follow at 12:00 noon. Masks, social distancing and occupancy limitations will be observed. Interment will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Kelleigh’s Cause, P.O. Box 127, Manlius, NY 13104, http://www.kelleigh.org, an organization raising awareness and treatment for those affected by Arteriovenous Malformations (AVM).
