ALBANY
- Daniel W. Wiltse passed away on Tuesday, September 8, 2020 at The Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital with his loving family by his side.
A graduate of Columbia High School and Hudson Valley Community College, Dan was licensed as a NYS Independent Adjuster and served companies in that capacity for most of his professional life.
As described by friends, Dan was caring, selfless, compassionate, a true friend who was always willing to help. He had a smile that could light up a room and loved to have fun. Dan enjoyed spending time at the lake with his family, motorcycle rides with his friends, Wednesday night get togethers at Chief's, and telling really bad jokes.
An avid fan of racing, Dan participated in SCCA racing game in the 1990's, racing a BMW in the Improved Touring Division at several race tracks including Limerock, Watkin's Glen and New Hampshire International Speedway. He enjoyed spending time out in the garage with James teaching him all about cars and watching NASCAR together.
Dan is survived by his loving wife, Marybeth (McHugh); his cherished son, James D.; his sisters, Kathleen M. Wiltse, Carol Ann Wiltse and Susan M. Wiltse (Glenn VanEtten); his nephew, Christopher Renslow (Katie Swanson); niece, Taylor Chamberlain (Rory) and grand-nephew Ty Chamberlain; his aunt, June Williams and several cousins.
He was predeceased by his father, Willard R. Wiltse III, his mother, Barbara A. (Williams) Monahan and stepfather, John Monahan, Sr., and his uncle, James D. Williams.
Dan was blessed with and grateful for the amazing love and support he received from family, special friends and his faithful furry companion, Simon. It made a very difficult time a little easier.
