WARREN, FRANCES MAE
RIO RANCHO, NM - Frances Mae Warren passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 6, 2010 in Rio Rancho, NM, surrounded by members of her loving family. She was 86 years young, and touched the hearts and lives of many. Frances always gave so generously of herself. She will be fondly remembered for her friendly smile, witty thoughts, loving eyes, encouraging words, forgiving heart, and her gifts and talents passed on to her sons and daughters. She will be missed by family, friends, and neighbors. Her beloved husband of 61 years, Lt. Col. William C. Warren (Ret.), died in 2007.
Mrs. Warren was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker who lived in Delmar, NY for 44 years with her husband, where they lovingly raised six children. She was a longtime parishioner of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Delmar, a Sunday school teacher for 20 years, and a frequent volunteer for the Altar Guild, innumerable church bazaars, and other parish activities. Mrs. Warren always reached out to others, often caring for sick and elderly neighbors. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, crocheting, gardening, animals, and bird-watching. Frances Mae Lucy was born in The Bronx, NY and raised in West Hempstead, Long Island, NY. She was an accomplished pianist, and sang in the Radio City Music Hall Chorus at Rockefeller Center. Frances attended Columbia University and graduated from the Katharine Gibbs School. She was a legal Executive Assistant before marrying her husband William C. Warren, a West Point graduate and decorated World War II veteran, in 1946. The Warrens traveled extensively, living throughout the US and various countries in Europe while Mr. Warren served in the United States Army.
Survivors include five children, Cynthia Myers and husband Don of Charlotte, NC, Angelica Rose of Santa Barbara, CA, William Warren and wife Sylvie of Montgomery Village, MD, Thomas Warren and wife Diane of Mohegan Lake, NY, and Donna Warren and husband David Verhegge of Rio Rancho, NM, and three grandchildren, Dustin Myers of Columbia, MD and Elisabeth and James Warren of Montgomery Village, MD . Mrs. Warren was preceded in death by her son, Robert Warren, her parents, James and Lillian Lucy, and her brother, James Lucy Jr.
Thank you, Mom, for all your love, blessings, and special gifts. We are honored and privileged to be your children. We love you dearly, and miss you. Yet we rejoice that you are now at peace and reunited with your beloved husband, and that you are both in Heaven with Our Dear Lord.
Relatives and friends may call at the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Ave., Albany, NY on Sunday, January 17, from 2 to 5 p.m. Funeral services will be held at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church,16 Elsmere Ave, Delmar, NY on Monday, January 18 at 11 a.m. A reception will follow in the parish hall. A Chapel service and interment will be at the USMA cemetery at West Point, NY on Tuesday, January 19 at 1:30 PM.
