ALBANY -Beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Marion Kathleen Flanagan Waite, 95, Albany, NY, passed away peacefully at home on June 19, 2023. Marion was born in 1928 in Queens, NY to the late Michael A. and Kathleen Connolly Flanagan.

Marion found her one love, Ronald E. Waite, Jr. and was married in September of 1950. The two shared 41 years of marriage and ten children before his passing in 1991. First and foremost, Marion was a dedicated and loving mother. As a busy mom to ten children, she made time to nurture a special relationship with each one.

Marion was a graduate of Cathedral Academy in Albany, and she worked as a telephone operator for Ma Bell before marriage. Later in life, she returned to the workforce as a switchboard operator with the New York State Senate. She retired in 1993, after 17 years of service.

Our mother loved to travel and spent time with family in many places around the world including Ireland and East Africa.

Marion was predeceased by her son Kevin (Linda), daughter Kathleen Waite-Commander (late Mark) her brothers Michael P. Flanagan (late Lydia), Arthur T. Flanagan (Peggy), Daniel J. Flanagan, Sr. (Joyce), her sisters Eileen F. Renzi (late Frank), Joan A. Radler (late Bob), Ellen F. Catalano (late Vince), and Barbara Santiago (Paul).

Marion will be dearly missed by her children: Christopher (Wendy), Deborah Shaffer (David), Dennis (Leslie), Ronald (JR) (Maggie), Pamela (Margi), Sean (Carole), Claudia McCoy (Mark), and Stephen (Ali); her siblings Doris Barr (John), Thomas DePalma (Helene) and Kathleen F. Loerzel (late Lorenz); twenty-five grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren, and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins both in America and Ireland.

Family and friends are invited to call at the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Avenue, Albany NY on Thursday, June 22, 2023 from 4-7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 23, at 9 a.m. in St. Francis of Assisi Church - the South End Site, 88 Fourth Ave., Albany.
