- Raymond H. Wagner, 75, was born in Albany on March 11, 1947 and died at the Albany Stratton VA Medical Center on Wednesday, September 7, 2022.
After his Vietnam service, Ray helped build the Empire State Plaza. As a painting contractor he was sought out to paint houses and apartments. He also tended bar and enjoyed friendships from here to California, Florida and back again. What pleased Ray the most was helping and mentoring young folks in need and running group homes at LaSalle School and their group homes.
Ray is survived by his wife Kim Edwards Wagner of Florida; his step-son Michael Williams; his brother Jerry; his sisters Donna, Barbara, Pam and Jeannie. He was predeceased by his step-son Rudy. Ray was the longtime best friend of Kathleen Kearney of Albany.
We are grateful for the exceptional care and comfort Ray received at the VA Hospital from doctors Upalla, Hosannah, Hladik and their teams as well as the nurses and staff from 8-B and the ICU.
Ray will be laid to rest at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery on Thursday, September 22, 2022 at 12:30 pm. Friends are invited to gather and raise a glass in fond memory of Ray at the Lark Tavern, 453 Madison Ave., Albany immediately following the graveside services.
