Vrooman, Morey

ALBANY- Morey Vrooman died suddenly on November 26, 2022. Morey was born in Pittsfield, MA the son of Douglas and Charlotte Campbell Vrooman. He grew up in nearby Hinsdale, MA and lived a long time in Albany.

Morey is survived by his wife, Rosemarie Tobin; daughter Tracy Gibeau (Marc); son Christopher Vrooman; former daughter-in-law Patricia Reyes Donoso; his grandchildren, Suzanne Gibeau (Ryan), Zachary Gibeau and Veronica Vrooman. In addition to his parents he was pre-deceased by his wife, Frances Smith Vrooman; and his brother, Dana Vrooman.

Morey graduated from Pittsfield High School and UMASS with a Bachelors degreein Psychology/ English.He was in the Marine Corps, being honorably discharged in 1962 with the rank of Corporal. He worked for many years for the State of New York in several positions. He loved to tell stories of the different jobs he had prior to his employment with NYS.

Morey was an avid square dancer since the late 1970’s and especially enjoyed the advanced and challenge levels. He had an intense love of reading, frequently reading several books at a time. If the Guilderland Public Library had frequent reader points, he would have been their top reader. He loved singing in the choir at the 5:00 Mass at St. Vincent de Paul Church. To him it was a combination of love of singing, his faith and sense of community. A little known fact is that Morey had a massive collection of frog knickknacks, courtesy of his children.

His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, December 3, at 10:30 am in St. Vincent de Paul Church, 900 Madison Ave., Albany. Relatives and friends are invited and may visit with his family at the church prior to the Mass from 9:30-10:30 am.
