DELMAR – Joseph P. VanDeloo Jr., 83, passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at Albany Medical Center.
Born in Albany, he was the son of the late Joseph and Anne (MacComber) VanDeloo. He graduated from Christian Brother’s Academy, Class of 1957. Mr. VanDeloo served in the US Airforce during Vietnam. He worked for Konica-Minolta and retired in 2008 after a 30 year career in sales.
Mr. VanDeloo was a life member of the Blanchard-Curry American Legion Post #1040 where he was Past Commander and a Past Chairman of the board. In 2008 he was honored to be named Citizen of the Year by the Bethlehem Chamber of Commerce. He was also a Communicant of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.
He enjoyed getting together with his friends from CBA and his trips to River’s Casino and Atlantic City.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 43 years, Frances (Dillenbeck) VanDeloo; son Eric VanDeloo and his sister Elizabeth Lawson. He is survived by his children Christian VanDeloo (Vicki Ferguson) of Fultonville, Joanne VanDeloo (Christopher Martin) of Slingerlands and Amy Brennan (Jason Barra) of Selkirk; his grandchildren Lauren, Andrew and Alisha Brennan; his sister Joan Gordon of Troy, and sister-in-law Florence Recupero of Florida. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with his family on Monday, March 27 from 4-7 pm in the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, Inc, 490 Delaware Ave. Albany. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, March 28 at 9:30 am in the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 125 Eagle St. Interment will Military Honors will follow at 12:00 noon in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duel Road, Schuylerville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to CBA, 12 Airline Drive, Albany, NY 12205.
