Van Amburgh, Robert E., Sr.

ALBANY-Robert E. Van Amburgh, Sr. 78 passed away peacefully on Tuesday August 21, 2018 at the Albany Stratton VA Medical Center surrounded by his family.

Born and educated in Albany he was the son of the late Eugene and Ann Marie (Lawlor) Van Amburgh, Sr.

Bob was a US Army and US Marine Veteran serving during the Vietnam Era.

Bob retired from the City of Albany Fire Department as Leuitentant after 28 years of service.

He was a communicnat of Sacred Heart Church in North Albany and a member of the North Albany American Legion 1610, the Albany AOH and many other civic and veteran organizations.

Survivors include his 2 sisters Patricia Santiago and Joanne Lauer and his brother Eugene F. Van Amburgh, Jr.. He is also survived by several children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and 2 great-nephews Aiden and Brody Winton who were Bob’s very special buddies.

His family would like to thank the doctors and nurses in the ICU Unit at the VA Hospital for the compassionate care they gave to Bob.

Funeral services will be held Friday, August 24, 2018 at 11 am in the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Ave. Albany.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Bob’s family on Friday prior to the service from 9-11 am at the funeral home. Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands. In lieu of flowers those who wish may send memorial contributions to Sacred Heart Church 33 Walter St. Albany, NY 12204.
