ALBANY- Gladys M. Van Deloo, 97, passed into eternal life on August 26, 2011 at her residence. Born on March 30, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Joseph H. and Jennie E. (Noonan) Young.

She was the beloved wife of the late Henry G. Albert, Jr. and the late John F. Van Deloo.

Gladys is survived by her loving daughter Lynda M. Albert of Albany and her dear daughter-in-law Jean C. Albert of Colonie. Gladys was predeceased by her devoted son Donald H. Albert in 2000. She was also the aunt of Virginia Heaphy of Latham and the cousin of the late Rita J. Freitag.

A graduate of Albany High School, Gladys attended Albany Business College and was later employed by John Hancock Insurance Company. After taking time off to raise her children, Gladys re-entered the workforce as secretary to the Director of the Vocational Education Center of the City School District of Albany retiring in 1978. She then had the time to enjoy her hobbies of painting and writing. She authored the booklet God’s Kingdom on Earth- The Power Within Us.

The family would like to take this opportunity to thank the Community Hospice of Albany County and also the very special team of health care professionals from the former Seton Home Health Care agency led by Jean Lisa, RN.

We would especially like to express our heartfelt gratitude to Roberta Miller, MD of Homedical Associates for the extraordinary and compassionate care given to Gladys that extended the quailty and enjoyment of her last years. Also her tenant Donald Riano has been a big help to the family during her illness.

Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family. According to Gladys’ wishes, there will be no calling hours. Burial will be in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Colonie.
