Travison, Agnes E.

BALLSTON SPA- Agnes E. (Sis) (Hext) Travison, 95, died Friday, December 10, 2010. A life-long resident of Albany, she was the daughter of the late George and Evelyn (Belleville/Schaefer/Bennett) Hext. Married to the late Thomas J. Travison for more than 66 years, she was also the mother of Donald (Cynthia Nichols) Travison of Saratoga Springs and Robert (Mary Abbott) Travison of Tallahassee, Fl. She was the beloved grandmother of Laurie Beth (William) Rockenstyre and Amy (Tom) Travison-Jasiewicz; and great-grandmother of Caroline and Jacqueline Jasiewicz. She is predeceased by her siblings: Dan, George and Harold Hext, and Evelyn (Hext) McCaffrey.

She is also survived by several nieces and nephews, including Mark McCaffrey of Mass., Patricia Flanigan of Rochester, and Mary Ellen Staley of MD.

Many may remember Sis from her days at the John T. Travison & Sons Florist Shop on South Pearl Street, which the family owned and operated until it burned down in 1964.

A talented seamstress, Sis worked for several decades as a sewing instructor and bookkeeper for Sewing Services, and took pride in making all of her own clothes. She attended St. James Church for most of her life—where she was married in 1937—and often played Bingo there with a group of close friends.

During their retirement, Sis and Tommy enjoyed many summers at a lake house in Bolton Landing on Lake George, and enjoyed traveling, particularly to Hawaii.

The family would like to express its profound gratitude to her caregivers, particularly Hal and Jeanie, for their devotion and friendship.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 am Thursday, December 16, 2010 in the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Ave., Albany. Relatives and friends are invited and may also call at the funeral home on Thursday prior to the service, beginning at 9:30 am. Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
