ALBANY- In her 68th year, Laura Virginia Stewart passed away at Hudson Park Nursing Center on February 3, 2018 after a long illness.

Laura was born in Springfield, Illinois and raised in the metropolitan Chicago area with a substantial part of her life spent in Maywood. She graduated from Chicago Conservatory College and earned a master’s degree in music from the American Conservatory of Music in 1972. She was for many years a dedicated pianist. The high point of her music career was winning the American Conservatory Commencement Competition where the prize was a concert with the conservatory orchestra in Chicago’s Orchestra Hall.

She moved to Albany in 2006 to be closer to her brother, Paul Michael Stewart who survives her and her mother Virginia (Irons) Stewart who passed away in 2014.

Private services will be held the Convent of Mercy Chapel in Albany with burial to follow in Graceland Cemetery.
