With profound sadness, the family of Stephen M. Carty announces his peaceful passing on March 22, 2024, at the age of 74. Born to the late Marlin and Margaret Vaillancourt-Carty on July 14, 1949, in Albany, NY, Stephen, affectionately known as “Stevie”, was a cherished sibling and devoted Uncle. He leaves behind his sisters, Rita Lavin-Waller, Brooksville, FL and Karen M. Carty, Franklinton, NC. He will be remembered by his nephews Eric Lavin, Michael R. Habiniak, and niece Christine Habiniak-Voss, including several cousins. Stevie was greeted in heaven by his parents, brother Charles and his nephew William Lance Lavin.

He was an alumnus of Cathedral Academy Elementary School and Cardinal McCloskey Memorial High School. Stevie continued his education at the State University of New York at Albany earning his associate degree in chemistry, Stevie’s love for cats and the serenity of nature was evident in his passion for fishing and boating.

A graveside service to honor Stephen’s life will be conducted on April 5 at St. Agnes Cemetery in Menands, NY at 1:00 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to gather and pay their respects.

The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society in Menands, NY a cause close to his heart. Stevie’s memory will be carried forward in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
