SELKIRK - Richard T. Stangle, 74, of Selkirk died suddenly Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at Albany Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Born and educated in Amsterdam, he was the son of the late George J. Stangle and Sara (Norris) Stangle. Richard was employed for many years in retailing at Neisner Brothers, Two Guys and the Jewel Tea Company. He was last employed by Conrail at the Selkirk Yards. Richard was a past member of the Bethlehem Volunteer Ambulance Service, Selkirk Fire Company #3 as well as the Selkirk Fire Police. He enjoyed camping with his family in the Adirondacks and spending time with his grandchildren.
Richard is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 48 years, Marilyn Good Stangle. In addition to his wife Richard is survived by his son Jeffrey (Michelle) Stangle and his daughter Margaret (Roger) Putnam; his granddaughter Sara Stangle and his grandsons Drew Stangle and Stephen Putnam all of Selkirk. He is also survived by his siblings, Doris Karchesky of Amsterdam, Elizabeth Grajewski of Ft. Collins, CO, Edward (Betty) Stangle of Glens Falls, Robert Stangle of Broadalbin and Mary Nicholas of Lockport. Richard was predeceased by his brothers, George J. Stangle and Clifford Stangle; sisters, Jeanette Stangle, Gertrude Natale and Barbara Heaton. He is also survived by brothers-in-law, John (Rita) Good, John (the late Joyce) Tolentino and sisters-in-law, Betty (Michael) Nolan and Vera Stangle; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
