VOORHEESVILLE- Joanne (Calabrese) St. Denis, 64, died Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at St. Peter’s Hospital. Born in Albany, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Bernice (Meehan) Calabrese. Joanne graduated from Our Lady of Angels School, Mercy Secretarial High School and Austin Beauty School. She worked for many years as a beautician. More recently, Joanne worked for New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, Division of Parole and was currently working at the Department of Health, Office of Professional Medical Conduct. She was a former PTA President at Voorheesville Elementary School, Board Member of Mercy High School Alumnae Association, member of the Town of New Scotland Board of Elections and the Voorheesville Centennial Celebration Committee. She was also a member of the Dead End Cruzers Car Club and the Once a Month (Mercy Class of 1966).

Joanne loved the beach, the sun on her face, her pool, classic cars, lunch with OAM friends, playing bridge, dinner with the “Ladies of the Court” and “Car People”, but most of all, she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and family.

A special “thanks” to the nurses and techs at St. Peter’s 6th floor Oncology Unit.

Joanne is survived by her husband of 38 years, William A. St. Denis; her children A.J. (Audrey) St. Denis and Patrick (Lynanne) St. Denis; grandchildren, Madison, Carter and Jackson; her brother Rocco (Ann Marie) Calabrese; her nieces and nephews, Deborah Robbins, Ted Simmons, Christine Brooks, Gabrielle, Kristin and Katie Calabrese, her sisters-in-law Marie (Ted) Simmons and Suzanne Calabrese; also survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, neighbors and many friends. She was predeceased by her brother Joseph Calabrese.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 2, 2011 at 8:30 am from the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, Inc., 490 Delaware Ave. Albany thence to St. Matthew’s Church, 25 Mountainview St., Voorheesville where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 am. Relatives and friends are invited and may also call at the funeral home, Friday, April 1, 2011 from 4-8 pm. Interment will follow the Mass in Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont, NY. Those who wish may send memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Rd., Loudonville, NY 12211.
