MECHANICVILLE – Janet R. (Selke) Sorensen, 91, passed away Wednesday, April 26, 2023. Born in Albany, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Ethel (Seibert) Selke, Sr. Janet was a graduate of Albany High School and retired from NYS Department of Taxation and Finance after thirty five years of service.

She enjoyed reading, playing cards and word puzzles. Janet loved spending time with family and traveling with her husband to Myrtle Beach, Maine and Cape Cod.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 31 years John L. Sorensen of Waterford, her sister Shirley Burns of Albany and brother, Raymond Selke, Jr. of Dundee, NY. She is survived by her nieces and nephews.



Funeral services will be held Monday, May 1, 2023 at 11:30 am in the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, Inc. 490 Delaware Ave. Interment will follow the service in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Waterford, NY. Relatives and friends are invited and may also visit with her family prior to the service from 10:00-11:30 am in the funeral home.
