Sokol, Dorothy Bunal

SCHENECTADY- Dorothy A. Bunal Sokol, Catholic Leader, 64, joined her Lord on May 6, 2022. Born in Rome, NY she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Irene Bunal. Dorothy received her B.A. from the College of St. John Fisher and earned her Master’s in Pastoral Studies from Boston College. She devoted her career to Catholic Education and Administration. She was a former member of the order of the Sisters of St. Joseph and later served as Parish Life Director at St. Patrick’s Church in Cambridge, NY, St. James in Albany, Our Lady of Grace in Ballston Lake and currently at Saint Francis of Assisi Delaware and South End Sites.

She is survived by her husband John; brother Paul (Sandy) Bunal and sister Pauline Decker; niece and nephew Sarah Marie and Albert (Lydia) Decker; niece Morgan Bunal and nephew Matthew Bunalparishioners and friends of St. Francis of Assisi Parish.



Dorothy’s Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, May 16, at 12 noon in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 391 Delaware Ave. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Church prior to the Mass from 10:00 am to 12:00pm. Interment will follow the Mass in Park View Cemetery, Schenectady. Those who wish may make donations in memory of Dorothy to St. Francis of Assisi Parish.
