Smith, Shirley A.

GLENMONT- Shirley A. (Leach) Smith, 85, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Monday, July 10, 2017.

A native of Albany’s South End, she was the daughter of the late William and Elizabeth Leach.Shirley was a loving mother and a Communicant of The Parish of Mater Christi.

She was predeceased by her husband Ernest W. Smith and eldest son William J. Smith. Beloved mother of Ernest W. Jr. (Roxy), David (Mary), Donald (Debra), Allen (Robin), Richard (Shannan) Smith, and Linda (Kevin) Zink; grandmother of Crystal, Ernest, Joseph, David, Justin, Brendan, Garrett, Austin, Zachary, Matthew, Tyler, Tara, Jake and Sydney. Also survived by 9 great-grandchildren; her best friend Kasha Spallane and her canine companion Elwood Smith.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with her family on Friday, July 14, 2017 from 4-8 pm in the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Ave. Albany. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 15, 2017 at 8:45 am from the funeral home thence to the Parish of Mater Christi where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 am. Interment will follow the Mass in Our Lady Help of Christians Cemetery, Glenmont.
