Skinkle, Judy M.

DELMAR- Judy M. Skinkle, 50, died Thursday, September 26, 2013 at her home. Beloved daughter of Mary Emily (Purtell) Skinkle and the late John J. “Jack” Skinkle of Albany; loving sister of Mary Ellen Skinkle (Mark Finn) of Baltimore, MD and Linda Skinkle (Rick Anderson) of Newburyport, MA; and beloved niece of Eileen P. Gallagher and Helen S. Garrett. She is also survived by numerous cousins, including Ellen Gallagher and Helene Carro/Freitag with whom she was particularly close, and her second “family” her housemates and staff at the Wildwood Delmar residence.

Born in Albany in 1962, Judy resided in the city until her move to Delmar in 2009. She was a 1984 graduate of Albany’s Sunshine School. Judy worked at New Visions (currently WWA ARC) in the sheltered workshop and enjoyed her many friends, staff, and her work. Judy was named Employee of the Month multiple times during her tenure. She was an accomplished Special Olympics athlete, loved bowling, “I Love Lucy, dancing, ”Cops” TV show, desserts (particularly chocolate) and the color pink. Judy will be remembered for her bright smile, her infectious giggle, her tremendous capacity to love and be loved, and for the joy she brought to all who met her.

Many thanks to the staff and residents of the Wildwood Delmar residence where Judy found a second home, to the Community Hospice for care and comfort provided, and to the staff and co workers at WWAARC for the many years of friendship and support.

Funeral services will be held Monday, September 30, 2013 at 10:30 am from the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, Inc., 490 Delaware Ave. thence to The Parish of Mater Christi where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 am. Relatives and friends are invited and may also call at the funeral home Sunday, September 29, 2013 from 3-6 pm. Burial will follow the Mass in Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont. If desired, memorial contributions can be made to Wildwood Foundation in memory of Judy Skinkle, 2995C Curry Rd.
