Shooks, Helen J.

COLONIE- Helen J. Shooks, 92, died Thursday, November 14, 2013 at Albany Medical Center. Born and educated in Albany she was the daughter of the late Chester and Mary Szczepkowski.

Mrs. Shooks worked as a Secretary for the Hotel, Restaurant and Bartenders Union Local 471 and later with the NYS Police where she retired. She was a member of the Polish American Citizens Auxiliary, the Zaloga Post Auxiliary and a lifelong member of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Czestochowa Polish National Catholic Church.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Marvin Shooks; her son Russell (Kathy) Shooks; granddaughter Amanda Shooks and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by her brothers John, Lucien, Frank and Steven Szczepkowski and her twin sister Stacia Chmielenski.;

The family wishes to thank Albany Dialysis, the staff of D-4E at Albany Medical Center and Dr. Fera and staff for the care and support of Helen during her illness.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 18, 2013 at 9:15 am from the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, Inc., 490 Delaware Ave. thence to Blessed Virgin Mary of Czestochowa Church, 250 Old Maxwell Rd. where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am. Relatives and friends are invited and may also call at the funeral home on Sunday, November 17,
