Shirley H. Floeser

ALBANY, NY - Shirley Floeser of Albany and Town of Day (Sacandaga Lake) NY passed away Tuesday, January 30, 2024.

Shirley was born in Whitehall, NY Nov. 15, 1924, to the late Basil & Edith (Goodrich) Huestis. Wife of the late John Floeser Sr. for over 53 years.

She was a resident of Albany in the same house for over 70 years. She was an active member of St. Teresa of Avila Parish since 1948, a Cub Scout Den Mother for over 17 years; a PTA officer at school #19 for 12 years; holding several offices in AARP #78 for 17 years including Income Tax for the Elderly for 10 years, and tour coordinator for over 21 years. Besides pencil, chalk, and oil painting, she was proficient in Japanese embroidery known as "Bunka" with over 30 pictures of this style. A committee member of the Capital District Genealogical Society since 1981, their Newsletter Editor in 2000 for many years.

Shirley is survived by her sons John (Barbara), Michael (Dianne), Charles (Tammie Bean), and Richard (Cheryl).

She was a devoted grandmother to Christopher, Stephanie Norman (Shaun); Rachele; Amy, Emily, Kimberly, and Caroline; Noah, and step-grandchildren Katherine Fisher (Dan), Brian Kowalski, and John Kowalski (Laura) along with great-grandchildren Sydney and Zander Floeser, Olivia Norman, Margaret and Lena Fisher, Isabella Kowalski, and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Shirley is also survived by her brother Robert Huestis, and predeceased by her two sisters Joan Olsen and Jean Smith.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, February 22, 2024, from 5-7pm at Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Ave., Albany.

Shirley's funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, February 23, 2024, at 10am in Mater Christi Church, 40 Hopewell St. Albany NY followed by burial at Our Lady Help of Christians Cemetery, 41 Jolly Rd. Glenmont NY.
