Shields, Helen J.

ALBANY- Helen J. Shields, 88, died Sunday, November 13, 2011 at the Good Samaritan Lutheran Health Care Center surrounded by her family. Born in Albany, she was the daughter of the late Martin J. and Josephine (Moran) Shields, Sr. Miss Shields was a graduate of the former St. James Institute and Cathedral Academy. She worked as a supervisor for the NY Telephone Co. in the treasury department for many years retiring in the 1980s. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers. Miss Shields enjoyed her condo in Barbados, and spending time with family and friends on Cape Cod. She was a talented seamstress and avid reader.

Survivors include her sister, Mary (Joseph) Lenzenhuber; nephew, Louis M. (Jackie) Lenzenhuber, nieces MaryAnn (Philip) Barnum, Susan M. (Larry) Blank, Joan (late Nicholas) Tateo, Catherine (Joseph) Cacciola, Barbara and Maureen Cunningham; several grandnieces and grand nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers Thomas, James and Martin Shields and sister Dorothy Cunningham.
