Sheila Hogan Mccormick

Sheila Hogan McCormick, 82, of Loudonville, New York, passed away peacefully on December 19, 2023, leaving behind broken hearts and cherished memories. Born on July 25, 1941, in Albany, New York, to the late Daniel and Elois Hogan

Sheila was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. Throughout her life, she was a constant supporter of her children and grandchildren, never missing their events big or small. Sheila’s heart was full of kindness, she saw the good in everyone and believed in unconditional love. Throughout life’s challenges, Sheila remained strong and always found the silver lining.

Sheila's educational journey included graduating from Albany High School in 1958 and then she followed her calling by earning her nursing degree from St. Peter's School of Nursing in 1962.  Sheila began her career as a nurse for Dr. James Furlong OBGYN, in Albany, New York, and then St. Peter's Hospital in Post Coronary and Hospice. Her career spanned 40 years until she retired in 2000

Sheila met the love of her life, Bill, while bowling and on February 8, 1964, they married.  Sheila and Bill enjoyed 59 years of love, marriage and partnership.

Sheila was a social butterfly, who enjoyed spending time with family and friends, travelling with her loved ones, diving into captivating books, vacationing at Cape Cod's sandy shores, shopping till she dropped, and even trying her luck at the Saratoga Racetrack and Racino.

Sheila leaves behind an ocean of cherished memories, survived by her loving husband, William P. McCormick (Loudonville); her favorite daughter, Jennifer Edmunds, and son-in-law, Sean Edmunds (Delmar);her granddaughters, Aislinn and Kaelyn Edmunds; her sister, Alice Murabito (Harrison, NY and Ponce Inlet, FL); her sisters-in-law, Joyce Hogan (Latham); Diana Hogan (Thousand Oaks ,Ca.) and Jane Ellis (Clifton Park); her partner-in-crime and closest friend, Julia Maxon (Clifton Park) and many loved nieces and nephews. She joins her son, Scott McCormick, and her siblings, Daniel V. Hogan, William Hogan, Frederick Hogan, James Hogan, George Hogan, Arthur Hogan, Patricia Hogan, and her dear cousin Frances Hogan, as well as many close friends, in heaven.

To celebrate Sheila's remarkable life, a wake will be held from 3:00-6:00 P.M. on Thursday, December 28, 2023, at Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, located at 490 Delaware Ave, Albany, NY 12209. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, December 29, 2023, at St. Pius X Church in Loudonville. Her final resting spot will be at St. Agnes Cemetery in Menands, where she'll continue to make the angels smile.

Sheila's favorite color was blue. The family is requesting for everyone to wear some blue to celebrate Sheila and her life.
