Schewe {Shoe-E}, Martha S.

COLONIE-Martha S. Schewe, 88, died peacefully on Sunday, January 15, 2012 at the home of her son Donald, in Liverpool, NY.

Born and educated in Albany she was the daughter of the late Walter and Stefania Zalewski. Mrs. Schewe was a telephone operator with the New York Telephone Company for more than 30 years, retiring in 1986. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, an avid fan of her beloved NY Yankees and enjoyed trips to casinos. She was a Communicant of Christ Our Light Parish in Colonie.

She was the widow of William F. Schewe. Survivors include three sons, William T. (Barbara) Schewe of Mayfield, Donald E. (Rena) Schewe of Liverpool and Robert (Donna) Schewe of Colonie; six grandchildren, Mark Schewe, Beth Ann Schewe Nesbitt, William, Nicholas, Jason and Alicia Schewe. She is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Mrs. Schewe was predeceased by her siblings, Jean and Al.

Funeral service will be held Thursday, January 19, 2012 at 6:00 pm in the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Ave., Albany. Relatives and friends are invited and may also call at the funeral home Thursday prior to the service from 4 to 6 pm. Private interment will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie.
