Santiago, Peter J.

VALATIE- Peter J. Santiago, 71, died peacefully on Friday, February 18, 2011 at Albany Medical Center surrounded by his family after a long illness.

Born in Windham, NY he was the son of the late Peter C. and Michaela (Ruiz) Santiago.

Survivors include his beloved wife and partner of 41 years, Victoria (Casatelli) Santiago; his loving children, Michelle, Denise, Suzanne, Joseph (Christina), Luke and Antonia Santiago; grandchildren, Daniella Santiago and Damian Vigay; and two great- grandchildren his brother, Anthony (Florence) Santiago, his sister, Maria Santiago. In addition to his parents he was also predeceased by his wife Rosalie Orr, his brother John Santiago and his sister, Josephine Nardacci.

He attended the University of So. Florida and graduated from Hudson Valley Community College. He was a land surveyor for many years and retired from Amtrak several years ago. Peter was quick-witted, a voracious reader, a collector of books, jokes and trivia and a car enthusiast.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Tuesday, February 22, 2011 in the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, Inc. 490 Delaware Ave., Albany. Relatives and friends are invited and may also call at the funeral home on Monday, February 21, 2011 from 4 to 7 pm. Burial will be in the Bethlehem Cemetery, 286 Kenwood Ave., Delmar.
