Sanchez, Thomas M.

LONG BEACH, CA- Thomas Michael Sanchez went to be with our Lord on Tuesday June 20, 2017 with his family by his side at St. Mary’s Hospital in Long Beach, California. Born Oct. 21, 1951 in Albany, NY, he is predeceased by his mother Mary Ann Majkut Sanchez and father Thomas Gale Sanchez. Survivors include his loving brothers Michael Sanchez, Christopher Sanchez (Ginny) and sister Maria Sanchez Martin (Michael); his niece and nephews Steven and Jessica Sanchez, Michael and Danielle Martin; grand- nieces Natalie, Cassidy, Mackenzie Sanchez and Aspen Mcbroom. Tommy served as a medic in the Vietnam War. Where he was given Honorable Discharge along with National Defense Service medal & SS badge M-16. He loved history and art, along with his favorite football team the Dallas Cowboys. Tom was a free spirited person who loved life. His travels took him across the United States where he eventually settled in Long Beach California where he worked as Security Guard at Long Beach Port Authority. Tom owned and operated Tom’s Sandwich Shop on N. Pearl St. and Tom’s Milky Way on Second Ave. in the 1970’s & 1980’s. He also worked for Jack’s American Pie on Delaware Ave.

Calling hours for family and friends with be Thursday July 13, 2017 from 5-7 pm in the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home 490 Delaware Ave. Albany, NY 12209. A memorial service will follow at 7 pm. He will be laid to rest at Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery at a private family ceremony.
