Saira Akhtar Samuel

CLIFTON PARK- Saira Akhtar Samuel was born in Sargodha, Pakistan on March 5, 1943, to Ranga Mall and Mahtab Bibi. Saira was one of seven children, which includes: Rakhil(deceased), Maqbool(deceased), Manzoor, Maqsood(deceased), Surriya(deceased), and Mehboob(deceased). Saira married Saleem Samuel on December 21, 1973, in Pakistan, with whom she had five children.  Saira and Saleem, along with their four daughters, immigrated to the United States in 1981.  In 1985, they had their fifth child, their only son.  Saira was a nurse in Pakistan and continued her passion to help others when she came to the United States where she worked at Albany Medical Center for over 25 years.  Saira enjoyed gardening, sharing the latest news with her girlfriends, and cooking/feeding her family.  Her faith in our Lord Jesus Christ was demonstrated throughout her life, especially during her battle with cancer this year.

She is survived by her elder sibling: Manzoor, her 5 children: Iram, Kiren, Shazia, Nadia, and Waseem, and her 8 grandchildren: Alexander, Azhar, Afnan, Anisah, Isabelle, Benjamin, Eva, and Audrianna.

Wake services will be held at Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Avenue, Albany, NY 12209 on Friday, October 25th 3:30-4:30 pm for friends and 4:30-6:30 pm for family.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 26th at 10:30 am at McKownville United Methodist Church, 1565 Western Avenue, Albany, NY 12203 followed by burial at Graceland Cemetery, 680 Delaware Avenue, Albany, NY 12209.
