Schenectady- Elizabeth L. “Betty” (John) Rutnik, 92, passed away Saturday, November 17, 2018 at home.
Born in Troy, NY Betty was a graduate of Catholic High and the College of St. Rose. She received her Master’s Degree in Social Work from Fordham University. She was a Navy Veteran of the Korean Conflict. Mrs. Rutnik was a social worker at St. Ann’s Institute and later with Albany County Department of Social Services where she was Director of INFO Line. She retired in 1992. Betty was a lifetime member of the American Legion.
Betty is survived by her husband, John P. Rutnik; children, Mary Littleton, John (Judith) Rutnik, and Raymond (Deborah) Rutnik; grandmother of Tamara and Tiffany Littleton; great-grandmother of Evan Littleton; also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings, Evan Lloyd, David, Robert, William Francis, Sr. Rose Alicia (Margaret) CSJ, Eleanor and Evelyn.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with her family on Sunday, November 25 from 3-6 pm in the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Ave. Albany.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, November 26 at 10 am in Saint Gabriel the Archangel Church, 3040 Hamburg St. Schenectady. Interment will be held privately in Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, NY. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may send memorial contributions to Alzheimer’s Association of Northeastern NY, 4 Pinewest Plaza, Suite 405, Washington Ave. Ext.
