Russo, Catherine M.

ALBANY- Catherine Marguerite Russo (Giordano) passed away peacefully Thursday evening May 13, 2010 at home with her loving family by her side. She was born on February 21, 1923 in Albany, NY to Joseph Giordano and Margaret Smith. She wed Angelo Anthony Russo on September 7, 1946. They shared 61 years of marriage together. In 1968 she started working for National Commercial Bank and Trust (Key Bank), eventually becoming a head teller. After retiring in 1975, she moved with her family to St. Louis, MO and returned to Albany in 1988. She was a Communicant of the former St. Margaret Mary Church and was a member of the Red Hat Society.

Catherine is the beloved mother of Christine Ann Russo-Richardson (James) Stephen Angelo Russo (Rt. Rev. Mon. Richard Rohrer) and Mary Domenica Russo. She is the loving grandmother of Matthew Alan Simons (Tracy), Alissa Marie Simons (Jeanne), Katlyn Marie Hayward and Jonathan Ryan Richardson. She is also the great-grandmother of Madeleine Christine Simons. Also surviving Catherine are her sisters Mary and Ruthie, her brother Salvatore, many nieces, nephews and friends. Catherine was predeceased by her husband, sisters Rosie and Nancy, son-in-law James, and granddaughter, Alissa.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, May 18, 2010 at 9:30 am in All Saints Catholic Church (formerly St. Margaret Mary
