ELSMERE- Constance M. (Curnin) Rukwid, 83, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, November 3, 2021.

Born in Albany, she was the daughter of the late Philip and Agnes Curnin and graduated from the Academy of the Holy Names. She was a devoted wife and mother. Connie was a life member of the Elsmere Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church and Faith Viera Lutheran Church in Florida. She was an avid fan of the NY Giants, Notre Dame Football, PGA and Tiger Woods. Connie enjoyed staying active by walking and swimming at the Y and in Florida. She loved watching her favorite television show NCIS with Mark Harmon “Special Agent Gibbs”.

She was predeceased by her husband Paul D. Rukwid, Sr. and is survived by her children Paul D. Rukwid, Jr. (Toni), Scott, Heidi, Mark and Glenn Rukwid; grandchildren Taschto and Cedar Rukwid, and Wendy Maki; her niece Cheryl Dennin and nephew Christopher Birr; her cousin Thomas Curnin of Florida; her fur babies and Mr. Gibbs.

Her family wishes to thank the staff at St. Peter’s Medical Oncology Kim Brocker, Patti Degroat, Jennifer Smith, Amanda Bongiovi, Lisa Byers, Lisa VanWormer, Amanda Broomhead, Carolyn Wittaker, Melissa Churchill, Tanya Fonzo, Ashley Holmes, Elizabeth Lewis, Pam Greagan, Kim Schwartz, Ellen McGrann, and Dr. Khan, as well as Community Hospice. They would also like to thank her Florida friends Jay and Nancy Hopay, Jim and Linda Lewis at ORA Melbourne Beach; neighbors Ken and Nancy Hodge; dear friends Mary “Mame” and Donald DeAngelis; and Katie, Lisa and Lynda at Tool'sFamily Restaurant.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with her family on Tuesday, November 9, 2021 from 4-7 pm in the Norman E. Dascher Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Ave. Albany. The Elsmere Ladies Auxiliary will pay their respects as a group at 6:00 pm at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 10, at 10:00 am in the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 85 Elm Ave. Masks are required. Interment will immediately follow the service at St. Matthews Lutheran Cemetery, Glenmont. A reception will be held at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church after the burial. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
