Barry J. Romano, 66, of Selkirk passed away on February 1, 2019 at Albany Memorial Hospital. Born in Albany, he was the son of the late Jerome and Edith (Greeley) Romano.
Barry was a dedicated employee of the Albany Housing Authority from 1981-2010 where he retired as the Deputy Director.He proudly served on the HAIGROUP Board of Directors for over 20 years and was the longest appointed Chairman of the Board to date.He learned his strong work ethic at a very young age from his Mother and Father, and through the years he was a loving protective big brother to his sister Gloria.
Barry was an avid Yankee and Giant fan, but his true passion was his family and pets.He married his love Linda 24 years ago, fell effortlessly into a father role with her 3 sons, and then became the most loving and kind “Pop Pop” to 8 grandchildren.Barry had a huge heart and was always giving back by donating to multiple children and animal charities.He was a lifelong faithful friend to many and was the kind of person people wanted to be around.Barry was happiest creating meals in the kitchen and making sure everyone was happy, laughing and well fed.
Barry is survived by his wife Linda, 3 sons: Joseph (Tara) Tannatta, Aaron (Jamie) Tannatta and Janson Fros as well as his 8 grandchildren and his beloved sister Gloria Jean Romano.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Thursday, February 7, 2019 from 4-7 pm at the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Ave, Albany. Barry’s Funeral
Mass will be celebrated on Friday, February 8, at 10:00 am in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 391 Delaware Avenue, Albany. Entombment will follow the Mass in the Mausoleum of St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, 3 Oakland Ave, Menands, NY 12204
