VOORHEESVILLE- On Thursday, July 19, 2018, Anthony Francis Recupero, a devoted husband and loving father and grandfather passed peacefully into the arms of His Lord and Savior.
Tony was born in Glassboro, NJ to loving parents, Nicholas J. and Lena (Ritz) Recupero. He was blessed with a large and loving extended family. He married his beloved wife, Florence, at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Albany and raised three children, instilling in them faith, family, tradition, and integrity.
He was a man of integrity who worked hard and loved to laugh and sing. He was as a skilled mason who enjoyed reuniting with his many “brothers” from Local 7. Tony was a member of the ELKS Lodge in East Greenbush and saved many lives as a volunteer for the W.F. Bruen Hose Fire Department. Later, he moved to Voorheesville, where he spent his time enjoying his grandchildren both near and far and attending his beloved St. Matthew’s church.
Tony was predeceased by his doting grandfather, Anthony Recupero and grandmother Mary (Miccio) Recupero as well as his dear grandparents Nicholas and Josephine (Geraci) Ritz. He was also predeceased by his parents, Nicholas J. and Lena Recupero and cherished sister, Mary (the late George) Stone, his sisters-in-law, Margaret (Dillenbeck) McNamara, Shirley Mosher, Joyce Dillenbeck, Nancy (Frank) DiGuglielmo, and Frances (Joseph) Van Deloo.
He is survived by his loving wife, Florence (Dillenbeck) Recupero; devoted sister, Josephine Recupero; cherished son, Anthony (Patricia) Recupero, and beloved daughters Noreen (Nicholas) Ferra and Christine (Christopher) Vergare. Tony will be fondly remembered by his eleven grandchildren, Anthony (Rochelle), and Michelle Cavanagh, Nicholas Ferra; Nicole, Alyssa, Natalie, Caroline, and Joseph Recupero; Andrew, Evan, and Marissa Vergare. He is also blessed to be survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He will be forever remembered.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to his nieces, Donna, Mary, Rhonda; cousins, Nick, Joe, and Tony; and lifelong friend, Joseph (Buddy) Baldwin. They also wish to thank the many medical professionals who provided such excellent care to Tony.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, July 24 from 4-7 pm at Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Avenue, Albany. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, July 25 at 10am at St. Matthew’s Church, 25 Mountainview St. Voorheesville, NY 12186. Inurnment will follow the Mass in the American Saints Mausoleum of St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
Memorial donations in memory of Tony may be made to St. Matthew’s Church.
