Pocius, Eva H.

DELMAR- Eva H. (Aleschus) Pocius, 91, passed away Friday, January 20, 2023 at the Delmar Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing. Born in Albany she was the daughter of the late George and Edith (Cook) Aleschus and graduate of Philip Schuyler High School Class of 1950. She worked for the NY Telephone Company (Verizon) for 36 years, retiring in 1986. She later worked part time at the Paper Mill in Delmar. She was a life member of the NY Telephone Pioneers, a member of the First Congregational Church in Albany and AARP Chapter 78. Mrs. Pocius enjoyed traveling with her husband, gardening and reading.

She was predeceased by her husband, Peter P. Pocius, Jr; she is survived by her son Keith C. Irish of Albany, sisters Betty Jane (Santo) Costanza of New Baltimore, June (Bill) Parshall of Golden Valley, CO and several nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Predeceased by brothers Arthur (Mary) Aleschus and Frederick Aleschus.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 26, at 6:00 pm at the First Congregational Church of Albany, 405 Quail St. Albany, NY 12208. Relatives and friends are invited and may also visit with her family at the Church prior to the service from 4-6 pm. Interment will be held on Friday, January 27, at 11:00 am at Bethlehem Cemetery, 286 Kenwood Ave. andElsmere Ave. Delmar.
