ALBANY- Isabel Marie (Temple) Payton, 84, died Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at her home.
Born in Floral Park, Long Island, she was the daughter of the late John J. and Cecelia (Gillen) Temple. Mrs. Payton was a graduate of Albany High School. She was a principle clerk in the NYS Controllers Office for more than 40 years, retiring in 1988. She had previously worked for the Internal Revenue Service as a listing machine operator. Mrs. Payton was a member of AARP, Ft. Orange Chapter. She was a longtime communicant of the former St. James Church where she was a member of the Christian Service Committee. She volunteered at the food pantry and delivered flowers to homebound church members during Christmas and Easter. Mrs. Payton also enjoyed bowling and golf.
Loving wife of 50 years to John W. Payton; sister of William (Miriam) Temple of Albany; also survived by several cousins including Dorothy Kahrs of Long Island and Henry Kappus of Sebring, FL.; her special sister-in-law Bernice Payton of Rotterdam and her family, Tommy (Holly) and Kevin (Dana) Payton and their children who have always been there for her; Special friends Ann Marie Giardenelli and family and members of the Rosary Prayer Group.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, August 30, 2010 at 11:30am in the St. Francis of Assisi Parish
(formerly St. James Church). Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Ave. Albany prior to the Mass from 9:30 to 11am. Interment will follow the Mass in Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont. Those who wish may send memorial contributions to Mohawk Hudson River Humane Society, 3 Oakland Ave., Menands, NY 12204.
