Pallrand, John R.

ALBANY- John R. “Jack” Pallrand went home to the Lord on Thursday, January 19, 2012 in the Hospice Inn at St. Peter’s Hospital.

Born in Glens Falls he was the son of the late Earl S. and Marion (Foley) Pallrand. Jack was a graduate of Glens Falls High School and attended Cornell University. He earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Buffalo. Jack was a Navy Veteran of WWII. He worked as a sales representative for John Hancock Insurance for 25 years and later as a real estate agent in the Albany area for many years until his retirement in 2009.

Jack was an outdoor enthusiast and loved fly fishing, running, bobsledding, skiing and hiking. He climbed 42 or the 46 Adirondack High Peaks. Jack enjoyed music, theater and appreciated a good glass of wine or a Sam Adams and above all dimmer at Rhonda's.

Survivors include his beloved Josephine I. Recupero; nieces and nephews, Patrick F. (Sheila) Herlihy and their children Patrick and Elizabeth of Queensbury, Nannette L. Pallrand of Los Angeles, CA, Maryanne H. (Dennis) Walkup and their children Adam and Caroline of Queensbury, Stephen J. Pallrand and his son Eli of Los Angeles, CA; Josephine’s family, Anthony (Florence) Recupero, Anthony (Patti) Recupero, Noreen (Nick) Ferra, Christine (Christopher) Vergare, Donna (Robert) Coonley-Hotaling of Albany, Mary (James) Kalica of Colonie, Rhonda (Richard) Plouffe of Colonie and the late Ronald (Sandra of Albany) Stone and their families and best friends, Maria and Don Colbert who are always there. In addition to his parents Jack was predeceased by his siblings Elizabeth Pallrand Herlihy and George J. Pallrand.

Funeral services will be held Monday, January 23, 2012 at 8:15am in the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Ave. Albany, thence to Christ Our Light Church, 1 Maria Dr. Loudonville where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9am. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home Sunday, January 22, 2012 from 5-8pm. Interment, will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, So. Glens Falls.
