Ozimek, Vincent M.

ALBANY - Vincent M. Ozimek, 78, died Monday, July 15, 2013 at St. Peter’s Hospital. Born in Albany, he was the son of the late Michael and Anna May (Walsh) Ozimek, Sr. and the step-son of the late Mary (Moore) Ozimek. Vince was a graduate of the former St. Joseph’s Academy, Hudson Valley Community College and he earned a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Chemistry from the College of Saint Rose. He served in the US Army from 1957 to 1959.

Vince was a chemist for many years with General Aniline Dye and Film Corp. presently known as BASF in Rensselaer, retiring in 1994. He was a Communicant of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception and volunteered for more than 20 years with the Cathedral Food Pantry. He was a longtime member and Past President of the Violet Society in Albany and member of the Knights of Columbus Council 173. Vince loved to travel and he traveled extensively through Europe. He was very handy and artistic and liked to knit and crochet. He was a kind hearted and generous gentleman who enjoyed gifting family and friends with his creations.

Vince was the brother of Michael M. (Sharon) Ozimek, Jr., Mary (John) Marra and Joseph (Terry) Ozimek. He is also survived by his nephews, Michael (Kathryn) Ozimek, III, Paul Ozimek and John Marra III; grandnephews, Conor and Brady Ozimek and Aiden Roger Marra. He was life-long friend of Nicholas Fiscarelli and the late Arthur Eagan.

Funeral services will be held Monday, July 22, 2013 9:15 a.m. from the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Ave. thence to the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home Sunday. July 21, 2013 from 3 to 7 p.m. Entombment will be in the Mausoleum at St. Agnes Cemetery in Menands.
