Soddy Daisy, TN.-Marie E. (Colbert) Osbonlighter, 96, formerly of Albany, died Sunday, May 20, 2012. Born November 13, 1915 in Halfmoon, NY she was the daughter of the late George J. and Anna Marie (Lawrence) Colbert. Mrs. Osbonlighter was the owner/operator of The Osbonlighter’s, a gem and mineral business in Albany. She was also a lecturer at various schools and geology organizations. Some of her collections are housed in museums and universities. Mrs. Osbonlighter was a past president of the Capital District Mineral Club.
She was predeceased by her husband, Burr C. Osbonlighter, Sr.. Survivors include three children, Patricia Picard of North East, MD., Burr C. Osbonlighter, Jr. of Soddy Daisy, TN. and Marie Flint of Albany; 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, May 25, 2012 at 9:30 am at Historic St. Mary’s Church on Capitol Hill, Corner of Pine and Lodge Streets, Albany. Relatives and friends are invited and may also call at the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Ave., Albany on Thursday, May 24, 2012 from 4 to 7 pm. Interment, Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont.
