ALBANY - Miriam “Mim” Frances (Hoogkamp) Oliveri, 81, passed away peacefully at St. Peter’s Hospital on Tuesday, January 31, 2012, surrounded by her loving family. Daughter of the late Henry and Marie (Foster) Hoogkamp, Mim was born in Albany and lived there all her life. Mim attended St. Joseph’s in Arbor Hill and the Academy of the Holy Names.

Mim was a devout Catholic and a longtime parishioner of the former Our Lady Help of Christians Parish in Albany, where she was a lector, Eucharistic Minister and coordinator of the annual Country Fair. She was a longtime member of the Catholic Daughters and the Telephone Pioneers of America. With her husband, Joseph, and following his death, she operated the concession stands at Washington Park and Bleeker Stadium for many years. She worked at the New York Telephone Company as a telephone operator and construction coordinator, for many years, retiring in 1991. Mim’s greatest love was for her family. She loved family gatherings and no celebration was complete without her infamous potato salad. Mim also loved to travel with her children, enjoying many vacations in Daytona Beach, Ocean City and Myrtle Beach. She was a strong, proud woman who fought and overcame many health issues in recent years. She faced her latest challenge with courage and her strong faith. Mim is the wife of the late Joseph F. Oliveri, who passed away in 1978, and sister of the late Rita Hoogkamp Day. She is the mother of Joseph F. Oliveri, Jr. of Albany; Rita (late Edward) Kilcullen of Watervliet; Miriam (Edward) Davis of Selkirk; Michele Oliveri of Albany; Marcia Oliveri of Albany; Eileen (David) Hartman of Loudonville; and Michael (Dorthy) Oliveri of Wynantskill. She is the beloved Gram to her grandchildren, Kenneth Swenson; Eileen Richtmeyer; Joseph Davis; Ashley, Kristin and Elizabeth Hartman; and Angelica and Anna Oliveri; and nine great grandchildren. Mim is also survived by her nephew, Joseph Day and her niece, Diane Coyle. Several cousins, nieces and nephews also survive. The Oliveri Family would like to thank Mim’s physicians and the staff of St. Peter’s Hospital cardiac care units for the compassionate care provided to her during her illness.
