Oliver, Richard E.

CHATHAM – Richard E. Oliver, 85, formerly of Albany passed away Saturday, August 26, 2017 at Pine Haven Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Philmont.

Born in Albany, he was the son of the late Kenneth and Catherine (Gregory) Oliver and was a graduate of the former St. John’s Academy and Hudson Valley Community College. Mr. Oliver was a US Marine Corps. Veteran of the Korean Conflict. He retired in 1984 from the US Postal Service after 30 years as a letter carrier. Mr. Oliver was a Communicant of the former St. James Church (St. Francis of Assisi Parish).

He was predeceased by his wife, Angela (Prividera) Oliver, his daughter, Katherine Fallanca; his siblings Joan Morrison and Donald Oliver and his great-grandson Macon C. Farcher. Survivors include his children, Richard K. (Kathy) Oliver of Glenmont and Susan (Mark) Diskin of Chatham; his son-in-law Mike Fallanca of Albany; eight grandchildren, Joann (Jason), Jesika (Tim), Meghan (Chris), Aaron, Eric, Madeline, Kacie and Aidan: five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Pine Haven for taking such incredibly good care of their Dad.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with his family on Friday, September 1, 2017 from 10 a.m. -11 a.m. in the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Ave. followed by a prayer service at 11:00 a.m.. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Glenmont.
