Oliver, Carol B.

DELMAR - Carol (Burns) Oliver, 78, passed away Friday, October 13, 2017 at St. Peter’s Hospital after a brief illness.

Born in Brooklyn, the daughter of the late Francis and Hazel Burns, she moved to Albany as a child. Carol graduated from the Academy of the Holy Names and received her child care training at the former Brady Hospital. Carol was a child care technician at St. Peter’s Hospital. She was a devoted wife, and mother who took great in joy caring for newborn babies.

She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Joseph P. Oliver and her brother Francis “Tony” Burns. She is survived by her children Maureen Farrar (Kevin) of Waterford, Nancy Oliver of Delmar, Timothy Oliver of Lincoln, Nebraska, Jeffery Oliver (Kelly) of Westfield, MA and Kevin Michael Oliver of Albany; her grandchildren Colleen and John Farrar; her sisters Claire Hamilton (Doyle) of Athens, GA and Dianne Burns of Carmel, CA; her sisters-in-law Alice Burns of Tennessee and Marcia Carswell of Alabama; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and her beloved dog Casey.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with her family on Tuesday, October 17, from 4-7 p.m. in the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Ave. Albany. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, October 18 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 391 Delaware Ave. Albany. Interment will follow the Mass in Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont.
