O’Brien, Eileen K.

Albany- Eileen K. O’Brien, 91, of Albany, died Friday, December 2, 2011 at Good Samaritan Lutheran Health Care Center. Born in Albany, Eileen was the daughter of the late Hugh F. and Catherine (Keough) Walsh, and lived in Albany all of her life. She was a graduate of St. James School, Cathedral Academy and Albany Business College. She was as a life long communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Parish (formerly St. James Church).

Wife of the late Robert P. O’Brien, sister of Hugh F. Walsh Jr. (and the late Marian), the late Thomas J. and Marcia Walsh, the late Joseph F. Walsh, and the late James M. Walsh. Sister-in-law of the late Marie and Al Hughes, and the late Jack O’Brien (Marion). Loving mother of Kevin P. O’Brien (Sharon Cady), and Robert T. O’Brien (Kathleen). Devoted grandmother of Matthew and Casey O’Brien. She is survived by her sisters-in-law Mary Grace Walsh, Emma and the late George Long, and Gertie and Howard Bishop. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Eileen worked at the NYS Thruway Authority where she retired in 1986. She was a volunteer at St. James Church, Whitehall Little League, and Child’s Hospital. Through the years, Eileen enjoyed attending her children’s and grandchildren’s activities.

The family would like to thank the staff at St. Peter’s Hospital, Good Samaritan Health Care Center and Community Hospice for their kindness and care of Eileen.

Funeral service from the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Ave., Albany on Monday December 5, 2011 at 9:15am and St. Francis of Assisi Parish (formerly St. James Church), 391 Delaware Ave. Albany, at 10:00am where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Relatives and friends are invited and may also call at the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home on Sunday December 4, from 4-8 pm. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont.
