SCHENECTADY-Ruth M. Newton, 92, passed away on Friday, June 28, 2013 after a valiant two-year struggle at Kingsway Arms Nursing Center. Ruth’s goal was to reach the age of 92, the same age her mother attained, and she did so on June 13, 2013.

Ruth was pre-deceased by her devoted husband, Thomas E. Newton, May 29, 2009 They were married for 67 years.

Born in Albany, she was the daughter of the late Frederick T. and Ruth Mayer McCann.

She was a homemaker, having worked in the office of the former Huyck Felt Company in Rensselaer, prior to the birth of her daughter.

Ruth was a long-time member of Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church in the City of Albany where she and her husband were involved in many parish activities. She also volunteered for 20 years in the gift shop at the former Child’s Hospital.

She enjoyed line dancing, golf, and yearly trips to Cape May, NJ and Ogunquit, Maine.

Ruth is survived by her daughter Susan and son-in-law Richard Green of Delmar, grand daughter Lisa and husband Philip Robbins and their children Alyssa and Alexis Garrison and Demitria and Devin Robbins, all of Clifton Park; grandson Thomas and his wife Nicole Green and their children Kaleigh and Joshua Green of Guilderland. She is also survived by one sister Dolores and several cousins.

Special thanks go to the devoted staff of Kingsway Village and Kingsway Arms Nursing Center and the Community Hospice of Schenectady.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 21 Hackett Blvd., Albany. Relatives and friends are invited and may also call at the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Ave., Albany on Tuesday, July 2, 2013 from 5-7 p.m. Private interment at Memory’s Garden Cemetery, Colonie.
