POESTENKILL - Joseph Preston Nedeau, 43, passed away suddenly on October 1, 2022,doing what he loved most in the world, riding his motorcycle on a beautiful day. Joewas born on March 24, 1979, in Albany, NY and grew up in New Baltimore, NY with his many siblings and loving parents, Sandy and Preston. It was in his early years that he began to show a great affinity for mechanics, animating a scarecrow at the town park at the age of 9 much to the awe of local judges. He always thanked his teacher during that time, Mr. Brooks, for recognizing and encouraging his talents. As Joe grew older his talent and aptitude for mechanics flourished; not a lawn mower, four-wheeler or dirt bike was safe from his modifications and improvements. At age 17 he restored his first car, a 1978 AMX Javelin, customizing speaker boxes and welding T-tops. Joe went on after high school at Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk to study at the American Motorcycle Institute in Daytona, Florida, graduating in 1999. His specialty was Ducati racing bikes although he never crossed a motorcycle he didn't appreciate or couldn't fix.

In additionto Joe's great talents with mechanics, he was an incredible creative mind. He could fix anything, build anything and was often able to find the solution to any puzzle or confounding problem with an ingenious, yet often practical solution. Passionate about electronic music, Joe spent hours mixing and producing and was at his happiest spinning music for friends. Joe had as many friends as there are stars in the sky, and his light, like those stars, shined on so many. Always a giver, Joe cared deeply for everyone and was always available to help a friend in need with a project or a listening ear. Joe will be remembered for his gentleness, kindness, and his ability to be independent of the approval of others which made him so genuine, he was hard not to love. Joe is survived by his mother, Sandra Montalvo. Sandy was Joe's biggest supporter and rock through every storm. She encouraged all of Joe's childhood experimentations and projects even when it meant she had motor parts in her kitchen and grease stains in the driveway. Likewise, Joe loved his mother and looked to her as a constant of stability and comfort, always taking on a new home project for her, learning woodworking, which he grew to take great satisfaction in, along the way.

Joe is predeceased by his father, Preston Nedeau and his sister, Annalise Nedeau. Joe leaves behind sisters Rose Nedeau, Crystal Nedeau, Brittany Nedeau, Amber Nedeau, Kaylena Nedeau and Carmen Montalvo . He is survived by brothers John Chappell, Craig Nedeau, Mark Healy and Devon Montalvo. Joe also leaves behind foster brothers JC and Kyle, his biological father, Stephen Chappell and his stepfather, Ismael Montalvo. In addition to his large family, Joe will be missed by a tremendous amount of friends who he loved like family and who will miss him deeply, including his housemate, best friend, music co-creator and adventure partner, Joe Kaiser and childhood best friend, fellow prankster and lover of all inventions, Emily Sowek. Joe had numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, all of whom will miss him dearly.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Joe's family at the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home at490 Delaware Avenue in Albany,on Friday, October 7thfrom 3-6pm.Tohonor Joe, we ask that you do something you really love and get lost in it. He'd love that.
