Murray, Edward J.

ALBANY- Edward J. Murray, 91, passed away in his sleep August 4, 2017.

Born in Albany, he was the son of the late James and Mae (Murphy) Murray. Edward graduated from Albany High School and Russel Sage College. He served in the US Navy during WWII and the Korean War.Ed retired as Assistant Director of the Office of General Services after over 40 years of service with the State. He was a Communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Parish and attended Mass regularly at the VA Hospital Chapel. He and his wife enjoyed traveling the country with the AARP and visiting their children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Mary (Deyo) Murray who he visited daily at the Teresian House until his death; three sons James Murray (Maureen), Thomas Murray (Sue), and Donald Murray (Wayne); his grandchildren, Lisa O’Brien (Daniel), Lauren Murray (Zachery Cole), Austin, Ellery, McKensie, and Spencer Murray and Mark Murray; and his great-grandson Ethan Edward O’Brien. Ed was a great provider for his family and cared deeply for all.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with his family Tuesday, August 8, 2017 from 4-7 p.m. in the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Ave., Albany. His Funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the Funeral home. Interment, St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
