Murphy, Kathleen M.

ALBANY-Kathleen M. (Dvorak) Murphy, 91, died Thursday, August 30, 2018 at Our Lady of Mercy Life Center.

Born in New York City she was the daughter of the late Miroslav and Mary T. (Bird) Dvorak. She lived most of her life in Albany and was a graduate of Albany High School and the former Albany Business School. Mrs. Murphy was a Communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Parish (formerly St. James Church).

Kay was a homemaker who hardly ever sat down, never complained and was a genuinely happy person. When Kay married the love of her life, Matt, he was a struggling disabled veteran. With Kay’s unquenchable positive outlook, love and support, they were able to build a happy life. They raised three boys and cherished their cozy home. Kay loved hosting parties with friends and neighbors and would often include skits and costumes. Kay spent countless hours in her garden which was truly something to behold. After raising her own boys, Kay showered her three grandsons with the same love and was often on the floor with them surrounded by trucks, lincoln logs and art supplies.

Wife of the late Matthew G. Murphy; mother of Matthew T. (Sandra) Murphy of Feura Bush, Timothy J. (Donna) Murphy of Colonie and the late Kevin Murphy; grandmother of Timothy (Kaitlin), Patrick (Alyssa) and Brendan Murphy; great-grandmother of Connor Murphy; sister of Mary F. Scott of Granville, NY and the late Patricia A. Dvorak. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law Judith Murphy, several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, September 6th at 10:30 am at St. Francis of Assisi Parish, 391 Delaware Ave. Albany. Relatives and friends are invited and may visit with her family prior to the Mass from 9:30 – 10:30 am at St. Francis Church. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery, Albany.
