ALBANY – Theresa C. Munafo, 66, passed into eternal life, peacefully at home on January 16, 2022. Theresa was born in Albany and happily lived there her entire life. Her greatest pride and joy and the love of her life was her daughter, Vivian Anne Munafo.
Theresa attended the Vincentian Institute, and worked for many years as a baker at Prinzo’s bakery in Albany. She later attended Hudson Valley Community College, earning a certificate in Computer Assisted Design (CAD). She worked as a CAD Programmer, first at the Denman & Davis Co., and then at Arcadia Manufacturing Group, where she was a Waterjet Programmer from 2011-2021.
In addition to her daughter, Vivian, she leaves behind her sisters, Rose Anne Munafo and Martha Munafo and brother-in-law, Joseph Bucci. She is also survived by several dear cousins, in-laws and devoted friends. She was predeceased by her parents, N. Vincent and Anna Mae Munafo, and her sister, Mary Munafo.
Theresa spent many hours attending to her mother, who suffered from dementia. It is from this experience that Theresa found a special calling later in life as a volunteer with the Eddy Alzheimer’s Services group. She never tired of visiting the elderly and sick, and was always generous in sharing her time and talents with family, friends and even strangers. She enjoyed sharing family stories and keeping family traditions (and recipes) alive. In her younger years she enjoyed riding her horse, Harry, and participating in dressage events, along with her sister Mary. She also enjoyed the opera, sewing with her sister Martha, going to Atlantic City and strong black coffee.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, January 24, 2022 at 10:30 am at the Parish of Mater Christi, 40 Hopewell St. Albany. Entombment will follow in the Mausoleum of St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands. Relatives and friends are invited and may also visit with her family at the Church prior to the Mass from 9:30 am. Masks are required.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of Northeastern NY, 4 Pine West Plaza Suite 405, Albany, NY 12205 https://www.alz.org/northeasternny or https://www.facebook.com/ALZNENY/ or to Double H Ranch, 97 Hidden Valley Rd., Lake Luzerne, NY 12846 www.doublehranch.org.
