SELKIRK – Surrounded by her loving family, Jeanette Elizabeth Mortensen entered into eternal life on April 3rd 2022. She was born in 1932 to Harold and Katherine Williams of Selkirk, NY.
Jeanette grew up in Selkirk and graduated from Ravena Coeymans High School in 1950. She was a graduate of Albany Business College in 1951. Jeanette worked for Stone and Webster Construction during the building of the power plant in Glenmont. She was also employed at her father’s company, Security Supply in Selkirk. In later years Jeanette was a seasonal employee in the Tax Department for the Town of Bethlehem.
In 1955 she married Kenneth P. Mortensen Sr. and raised a family. She thrived as a homemaker. She was an outstanding cook and she enjoyed entertaining. Jeanette took many cruises with her husband and she especially loved their trips to Hawaii. Bowling was her favorite pastime, especially with the Sunny Acre Firebirds. She was a volunteer for the Red Cross and the Ladies Auxiliary for Selkirk Fire Company #1. Jeanette’s favorite spot was sitting on the front porch of her family lake house on Loon Lake.
Jeanette is survived by her loving husband Kenneth P. Mortensen Sr. of Selkirk; son Kenneth P. Mortensen Jr. of Albany; Daughter Robin J. Reed (Patrick) of Chestertown; Brother Harold L. Williams (Kerry Ann) of Guilderland; Nephews: Bruce P. Gresen (Sharon) of Niskayuna; Kevin L. Williams of West Sand Lake; Nieces: Kerri Lynn Kimner (Stephen) of Amherst, NH; Kelly J. Visker (Chris) of Guilderland and many grand nieces and nephews.
The Mortensen family would like to sincerely thank the staff at the Loudonville Assisted Living Residence for their kindness and compassion. In addition, a special thank you to Mandy for supporting Jeanette throughout her journey.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with her family on Thursday, April 7, 2022, from 10 am to 11 am at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 85 Elm Ave. Delmar. Funeral service will be held at 11 am in the Church. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Selkirk.
