ALBANY – William J. Miller, 98, passed away Thursday, November 14, 2019 at the Albany Stratton VA Medical Center, surrounded by family.
Born in Albany, he was son of Charles and Anna (Walsdorf) Miller and graduated from Christian Brothers Academy. Bill was a proud WWII US Coast Guard Veteran, who later worked as a Dental Technician for McGovern Dental Lab in Watervliet for 40 years. Bill was a long-time communicant of All Saints Catholic Church.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his beloved wife, Idola Miller, infant son William J. Miller, Jr. and brothers Charles, Henry, Donald and Joseph Miller. He is survived by his children Carol Miller, Arthur Miller (Chris) and Edward Miller (Robin); grandchildren Ian, Sean, Catherine and Zachary Miller; and many nieces and nephews.
Bill shared a precious, special bond with his granddaughter Catherine who acted as his caregiver and advocate. Known for his wittiness, Bill loved corny jokes and sharing laughter with everyone.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Bill’s family on Sunday, November 17th from 2-5 pm in the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Ave., Albany. His funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, November 18th at 11 am in All Saints Catholic Church, Homestead Ave (formerly St. Margaret Mary Church). Interment will follow the Mass in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie. In lieu of flowers, donations in William Miller’s memory may be made to Albany Stratton VA Adult Day Health Care Program, 113 Holland Avenue, Albany, NY 12208 or Catholic Charities Disabilities Services, 1 Park Place, Suite 200, Albany, NY 12205.
